HOW TEAMS ARE FORMED
Recreational League: Players registering will be placed on a team which are drawn randomly by grade and the leveled by experience.
RECREATIONAL AGE DIVISIONS
Teams will be formed by grade levels and will be determined by number of registrants. Typically, Pre-Kindergarten is coed, other age groups are not. Typical age groups have been PreK, K, 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, and 7-8.
Pre-school children must turn 4 by October 1st of the current year to be eligible to play.
Some age groups of the recreational league may play against other recreational teams in our neighboring communities. All children in the 7th and 8th grade must participate in the Middle School League.
WHERE AND WHEN DO WE PLAY
Practices usually begin in mid-August depending on the weather and how quickly we can find coaches and set teams. Historically, finding enough coaches has been an issue. Please consider volunteering to coach your child's team. Games typically begin the first Saturday after Labor Day and should conclude by the end of October. Most games will be played on Saturdays and some Sundays. There could be an occasional weeknight game during the season. Saturday games will begin between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm. Sunday games will be in the afternoon. Games for the younger age groups and home games for the older age groups are typically played at Hylen Souders Elementary School, 4121 Miller-Paul Road, Galena. Older age groups could be played in our neighboring communities.
UNIFORMS AND EQUIPMENT
We will provide jerseys for all players. Players must supply their own shorts, socks, shoes, soccer ball and required shin guards. Shoes may be soccer, baseball, or an all-purpose type of cleat. Metal cleats are not permitted. Tennis shoes, while permitted for the Recreational League, are not recommended. Tennis shoes are not permitted for the MSL. PreK, K, & Grade 1-2 should use a size 3 ball. Grades 3 - 6 should use a size 4 and MS uses a size 5 ball.
